The FAMU Black Archives is a museum that offers a variety of black historical facts. There were a few things that really caught my attention. The FAMU Writing Resource Center (WRC) offers free, thirty-minute and one-hour writing and grammar tutorials for all students enrolled at FAMU. The WRC also offers group tutorials and workshops (conducted in the classroom as well as in the Center) that provide an overview of a particular language skill, writing strategy, or essay genre.

All incoming freshman students are required to read Wench and complete a writing assignment during the summer preceding the Fall 2011 term. Students will subsequently participate in small book discussion groups during Welcome Week in August. The book author, Dolen Perkins-Valdez, will visit the campus during the Fall 2011 term to facilitate the campus-wide forum.
